Def the best hike around here (in my opinion!) and easier than Harpers Ferris 🤣the trail is well marked, a lot of parking spots (if you’re ok with parking on the side of the road), awesome view and pretty drive too from Silver Spring area. I consider this trail an easy-intermediate type. Its a little bit steep, but I saw a lot of children there too (4yo and others).
Great short hike with access to the AT... parking lot fills up, but there is plenty of street parking, unlike some other locations around.
A bit steep and stone stepped, but nothing our puppy and 11-year-old dog couldn't handle.
Beautiful hiking area at all times of year. Easy access and parking. Short, vigorous climb to excellent overlook area. Trail varies from smooth to very challenging, staircase-steep rocks. Not for folks who need to avoid trip hazards. Trail is single-wide in many places with steep downslope.
Beautiful location! Hiked here on a summer afternoon when the humidity level was down and it make for the perfect hike. The hike is moderately challenging as there is an incline, but well worth it to get to see that view at the top.
If you are looking for a quick hike which rewards you with great views, then Weverton Cliffs is the place to be.
Reach early as there are limited spaces in the parking lot and start the hike up the cliff. It's a contineous uphill hike for approx 1 mile, one way, on the Appalachian trail amidst the woods which leads to the edge of the cliff at the end.
The views are rewarding at the top and time goes by just looking down below.
Be mindful of the fact that there are no bathrooms enroute or below at the parking lot, so be prepared.
There is a caution about poisonous 🐍 and black 🐻 on this trail, but apart from a deer we did not encounter anything else.
Nice little hike up to the overlook. It can be steep, but there are lots of terraced rocks to help. Well maintained trail and pretty views from the top.
Well kept trail that climbs and zigzags to reach the Cliffs. Great views at the top.
The Weverton Cliffs trail is well-known and is a part of the Appalachian mountain trail. There is a parking lot that can accommodate up to 30 cars, but visitors can also find street parking on the other side of the bridge.
The hike is rated as moderate, and for slow hikers, it may take up to two hours to complete. However, I was able to finish it in just 62 minutes. For those who plan to hike Weverton Cliffs, I recommend to wear good hiking shoes and bring water and snacks please.
Alcohol consumption is prohibited in the area, and a sign at the beginning of the trail serves as a reminder. I’ve also added a photo for reference.
Overall, the trail is great and offers stunning views, although it can be a bit rocky. However, it is well-marked, making it easy to follow the trail. Quick reminder to hikers, please keep your pets on a leash for everyone's safety.
Thank you! 🙏
